This linen chest was awarded a prestigious Guild Mark in 2016 (Guild Mark No. 460), and is made from the most gorgeous example of bog oak which is approximately 5000 years old. This very rare form of timber is oak that has been preserved in ancient peat bogs, where the acidic anaerobic conditions have turned the oak a rich black colour. The interior is finished in a fantastic burr olive ash for added drama and contrast.
This chest demonstrates how our rippled concept can be applied to nearly any piece of furniture with any desired function, in almost any wood.

The blanket chest is just what we had hoped for. The combination of the bog oak and the ripples reminds me of many happy times in the Outer Hebrides…. peat and the Atlantic! Every time I look at it, it makes me smile, thank you so much!
